Rossbow Posted March 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2011 HI will be sailing on the Glory June 13 and wanted to know of a great lobster restaurant in either Halifax or St John. Also will the whales be up in that are at that time? Thank you
LiftLockCouple Posted March 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2011 This is from the interactive thread about Saint John posted by Acey-SJ. You can find this very informative thread here on the Canada board. 38. Can you recommend a seafood restaurant? There are 3 great seafood restaurants in the area. Grannan's http://www.grannanhospitalitygroup.com/grannans is located in Market Square; Steamer's Lobster Company http://www.steamerslobstercompany.com is located across the street from the cruise ship dock; and Billy's Seafood http://www.billysseafood.com is located at the top end of the Old Saint John City Market. All are great restaurants; however Billy's is consistently rated by locals as the best in an annual survey by a local publication. All have outdoor patios. In Halifax there are several great places as well. My favourite is the Five Fishermen, however I believe it does not open until 5PM or at least the main dining room doesn't. I'm sure one of the locals will soon join in here and comment.
sapper1 Posted March 11, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 11, 2011 I second the suggestion for Billy's Seafood in Saint John. It is my favourite restaurant. In Halifax, in addition to the aforementioned Five Fishermen, which is an excellent restaurant, there is also Salty's on the waterfront, behind the Historic Properties. LiftLockCouple Posted March 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2011 St. John - Grannan's - inside the Market Square Center. I had a great lobster roll and my husband reports that his fish and chips were excellent. Halifax - McKelvie's - the best lunch of our entire trip! I had a great beer battered fish and chips, which were battered in a local brew and weren't greasy at all. My husband had salmon, which was awesome. We also had a slice of Ovation pie afterward, which is basically a frozen mint chocolate chip ice cream cake. This was posted back in August on an older thread, instead of the link I thought a simpe paste of the message would work well.
