luv2cruzfrmtx Posted March 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2011 What actually happens to a ship in dry dock? The Triumph will dry dock in September. We'll be on her on Oct 6th. What can we expect?

gman0119 Posted March 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 12, 2011 Boat comes completely out of the water... LOL No seriously, they will probably do the following, but just what I think, no proof: Make a more intense WaterWorks area, instead of just one slide. Make an adult serenity area on Lido Aft. Change a bunch of carpet. Maybe put some modern TV's in the rooms. Paint, paint, and more paint. General maintenance and many behind the scenes stuff that passengers will never notice. Many bridge updates and renovations that matter bunches to the captain, but nothing to us.

DocF Posted March 12, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 12, 2011 The five year dry dock is for serious hull and machinery inspection. This is required by both law and by the various marine classification societies. Other things that may be done are all optional upgrades and work to improve the passenger experience. We, as passengers, should appreciate the inspections even more than any freshening or upgrades of the passenger facilities as they assure our safety.
