g12523 Posted March 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2011 Hi all, I'm the kind of person who likes to blaze my own trail, but I also like to see the best of the best even if it is mainstream. I think I would rather snorkle (with my dad and girlfriend) at an off the beaten path spot, where we feel a sense of adventure and see great coral reefs, fish, etc. as opposed to going to Stingray City, where I can imagine it's all a little "fake" feeling. But..... I may be wrong. If anyone knows of an awesome snorkling spot that you think is better than Stingray City, please post it here. If you think Stingray City is so worth it that we should do it, even thought it's a little contrived, please tell me as well! Thanks a lot! TurtleTagger Posted March 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2011 Check out: Grand Cayman Off the Beaten Path Snorkel Spots Some of my favorites spots are Queen's Monument and Barefoot Beach and nearby Anchor Point for the thermal vents. You will need a rental car. Oh, and Sting Ray City may be "touristy" but it is so worth it.

If you haven't 'done' the rays - you should....I thought it would be like that, and yes, there are tons of tourist out there, but its a real, in the middle of the ocean experience - not like a dolphin swim that's set up for you....one of the neatest things I've done... g12523 Posted March 16, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted March 16, 2011 Alright, I'm convinced. Thanks for your help, we'll do Stingray City and if there's any time we'll go to one of the sites you mentioned TurtleTagger. Thanks again!
