pookie9922 Posted March 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2005 I've seen some posts that certain ports won't let you take food off the ship. Does anyone know how to find out if they'll let you take food off the ship in Roatan? Or whether they'll check your bags or not? We're just going snorkeling on our own in Roatan and were wanting to bring something for lunch to save a little money. I also have a pretty sensitive stomach so having some food I'm really comfortable with would be great. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! hdawson Posted March 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2005 I found the food on Roatan to be very good and reasonable. The freshest fish you'll every find.
addicted to cruising Posted March 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2005 Ive always tossed a few items in my bag to take ashore and have never been questioned. Ive never asked for permission either. Carnival has a nice breakfast buffet and I have taken boxed cereal and fresh fruit. If I feel like I want to purchase local food i do but I have a snack if I want. thunder_lin Posted March 24, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2005 We did take oranges and bananas and bottled water off the ship in each port we visited. We also made sure we had a good breakfast beforehad and then ate something small when we boarded back on the ship to hold us over until dinner which was usually around 7:30 p.m. On NCL they only check your bags on the way back onto the ship, not heading off the ship.
