kruzseeka Posted March 20, 2011 #26 Share Posted March 20, 2011 Disgusting isnt it Tummysmummy. I felt like reporting it to be honest. To me i don't care where a person is from it's what they are like as a person that matters! Really can't abide snobbery! Just looking forward to my cruise so much. One reason we chose this ship was because its small. No character to the huge ships. Another good reason to have chosen the Spirit too, mrsh2006 is that almost all the other passengers you meet will share your views - take people as you find them and give them respect (unless they do something which demonstrates they don't warrant it - like try to belittle others!) It's one of the important features of Thomson - we find it so relaxed and friendly and lots of genuinely nice and decent folk on board. Enjoy! ;)

HI Marian, That works fine for complaints about here in the forum. It's a review over in the reviews section we're going on about, it's different there. taffNo1 Posted March 20, 2011 #29 Share Posted March 20, 2011 Hi mrsh2006 Must admit I've not read the review:rolleyes: that you comment about. We've sailed with Celebrity in the past and it was talking to people and reading about the Spirit that made us choose it this year. All I've read about the Spirit says what a lovely friendly,:) clean ship she is and, as first timers, we are concentrating on that. When in Oct are you sailing? We are on the 7th Oct, Adriatic Explorer. Have just read the review and all that I can say is that I hope that Bri and I meet more people like you on all here :Dthan like her when we sail in Oct. Flopsy- good to know that we aren't the only ones on the cruise- Thomson cruisers don't seem to use the Roll Calls as much as other lines do or perhaps it's a bit early yet:)
missus mac Posted March 20, 2011 #30 Share Posted March 20, 2011 We're really looking forward to our 3rd cruise on the Spirit, going at the end of May. We've found our fellow cruisers (and the ship's staff) to be very pleasant and friendly, not at all as the person who wrote the review described. We normally have our evening meal in the Compass Rose and have spoken to lots of lovely people but luckily none like this woman. One of the good things about open dining is that you can avoid people like her!! On our first cruise we met a couple who had been on 15 Thomson cruises - all of them on the Spirit. They didn't want to try another ship in case they didn't like it as much! Thomsons have so many repeat customers; they can't all be wrong.

It is wrong to write a review and cause offence to people this review show ignorance and lack of manners THis review should be taken off the website. hope to see some of you from marmaris 20th june cant wait lets all cut loose and have some fun pandabearxx ;) We started cruising on the Spirit as we were recommended the first time by a seasoned cruiser who said this was a great starter cruise - for a week. We felt that it was a safe bet as we had always trusted Thomson. We loved it so much, we immediately booked for the next year. we still loved the staff, entertainment, food and ship. As my family are not drinkers, the inclusive package given to us as a loyalty bonus when we booked the second cruise with Thomson was a waste, but we did notice a lot of Brits drinking to excess. But it is normal for people to drink too much and eat too much when it's all included. You have to be wealthy to drink on a Royal Caribbean cruise as even soft drinks are very expensive and they add tax to each and every drink. The next cruise we booked was on Royal Caribbean. This was mainly to see what the big ships were like and to have a 'posher' cruise. Also, the ports for the cruise were just what we wanted too. Americans can be as hard work as us Brits, believe me! Some people like to complain and scream and drink their way through an entire holiday. On the RCCL cruise we took there was one yelling match between two American families over pool loungers that was legendary! Were they from a council estate???! The Royal Caribbean ship we went on was obviously much larger, but it was far more luxurious. But then again, it cost a lot more. Being on a ship is no different to being in a hotel. A holiday can be ruined by the other guests as much as they can enhance your experience. Thomson does not market itself to be as upmarket as Celebrity or RCCL and alike. But they do offer family holidays that are fantastic. All ships can get a little tired looking, but I could not agree with the ship being dirty. The staff seemed to do cleaning continually! I get the feeling that the offending review was by someone who has champagne taste with beer money. My family had two cruises with Thomson on the Spirit and I felt it was the best value holiday we have ever taken. :)

Not for me again if I can get away with it, but Mrs. likes the bigger ships so we're trying Princess next. Berwyn

My family had two cruises with Thomson on the Spirit and I felt it was the best value holiday we have ever taken. :) they clean, boy do they clean!. i have mentioned this elsewhere but it surprised me so much i will repeat it here. I was on Destiny this January and at 2am one night as the casino closed I popped into the main clipper bar to finish my drink. They were clearing all the shelves of bottles etc and one of the waitresses was cleaning the bottoms of the chairs so I asked what was going on. Its the weekly deep clean the barman said. It takes about 2 hours and they clean everything. Then there is an inspection the following morning and if ANY of the bars fails the inspection ALL the bars have to do another deep clean the following night  On top of this they were being visited by the roving company inspector who stays aboard for a couple of days and is even harder to please than the bar manager. He told me they were once failed on stained grouting on the bar area floor tiles which they could do nothing about despite scrubbing and lots of bleach!. The stain was coming from the deck beneath and what they needed was new tiles laid.
cruiseanywhere2 Posted March 22, 2011 #38 Share Posted March 22, 2011 We have sailed on the Spirit 3 times and love her to bits. The people and the staff are wonderful. I am sure you will all have a wonderful time. We are sailing on PandO on the Oceana on Monday and hope the people will be half as nice as those on thomson ships. The person who wrote the review obviously has problems with her own self esteem if she has to try to belittle others. Hope she's not on my cruise we will be far too common for her, coming from the welsh valleys with accents to match :D
mrsh2006 Posted March 22, 2011 Author #39 Share Posted March 22, 2011 Thank you for all of the replies and for putting my mind at rest. I think when i read the review i saw at the very bottom of the page a link to cruise critic if you had any problems or concerns with the review? I am going to have another look and if so i am going to write to them and say how i feel about this persons horrible comments. I am hoping that they will remove the review. If any body else wants to complain, please do so as they may take notice of more people than just one.

pauline wales Posted March 24, 2011 #42 Share Posted March 24, 2011 How rude can some people get. I have lived on a council estate for 40 years, where most houses a privately owned. Does this mean I am only fit for Thomson ships. If so I had better not use P and O. Ncl or Princess again.
mrsh2006 Posted March 24, 2011 Author #43 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Still not had a response to my e-mail but i will let you know as soon as i do. Hi Pauline Wales, love the comment! Haha! How rude is that persons comment! I have sent cruise critic an e-mail about it but not heard anything as yet. I expect they will say that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but i just think it is down right rude and out of order! Doesnt matter what type of property a person lives in its how they are as a person that counts.
