Sure, I have read about the possible noise in many posts, and have read how wonderful the extended cabin is..

 

but here is my question...

 

On the covered balconies on Emerald Deck, do you get sun on them, or do they stay shaded mostly?

We were in E729 on the Grand Princess this past December. It is only completely shady when the sun is overhead. Otherwise you get some sun in the morning or afternoon.

Our's stayed mostly shaded. We did get a bit of sun on the extended portion during certain times of the day when we were in the right position to the sun. But normally, it was shady.

We had E730 on the Emerald Princess last month. (The same cruise you were on, I believe!)

 

There was some sun in the morning or late afternoon, depending on the ship's heading, but it was mostly shady.

 

For what it's worth, I loved the location. There was some occasional noise from Club Fusion below, but it wasn't enough to be a big annoyance.
