New Orleans - airport to terminal - do we have enough time?

We booked our flight today for our Triumph cruise in

June. We arrive in NO at 12:05.

I was thinking at the time that was plenty of time for a 4:00 departure, but now I am getting nervous! Any experience on arriving to NO airport and how long it took to get to the terminal and then on the ship?

We are not checking bags, so we should be able to go straight from the flight to the transportation (which we did set up with Carnival).

assuming your flight isn't more than 2 hours or so late.

it could even be later, and if a Carnival bus is still there you're golden. even if not, you could still jump in a taxi and ask them to step on it.

Carnival will probably be waiting downstairs near the baggage claim for the various flights.

You might make it, but really if anything goes wrong.

We just went on Triumph and our flight was a couple hours late getting in, fortunaly we flew in two days early. Any way you could fly in the day before?

Not trying to be negative, just don't like the stress of a close call.

Enjoy your cruise!

Think you are in good shape. Carnival would not have let you book the Carnival transfer if there was not enough time. (of course, unforseen delays can make even Carnival wrong) Last October we sailed on Princess out of NY and Delta lost our bags so we had to wait at airport long past the recommended deadline but since we had booked Princess transfers, they kept one rep and a van there with us long after all the other Princess passengers were long gone from the airport and they talked constantly to the ship about when we would get to the ship...It was a close call but we made it. Think we were the last two to board. New Orleans is a great place but it is really a very small city so the drive from airport is just not too bad.

Carnival's guidelines say flights should arrive by 2pm, but they have to allow 30 minutes of so for people to get their checked bags. I think you are ok. There aren't a lot of winter storms these days.

Maybe no winter storms. Just hope there are no hurricanes then. Just saying.......

  • 2 weeks later...

You'll be fine. The airport to the terminal can be done in 20 minutes if there is no traffic and it shouldn't be bad at that time of day. If there's a little traffic your looking at 30 minutes, 40 tops. We're on the Triumph again in September. Which ports are you going too? They switch them up a lot on different cruies
