OK. Lanyard. I know it may be convenient

The last time I wore a fanny pack was in 1995 on an Australian vacation. I was down at the front desk of a hotel lobby. I told my travel companion "I forgot my fanny pack!" The man behind the desk bursted into a roar of laughter. Confused I asked what I had said that was so funny. He told me...

Meaning of fanny in Australia is.............

fanny n. A tush, usually a female tush (q.v.). Note that in Australia, fanny is a very offensive term referring to the female genital region.

Never wore one again. :o:D

Very funny! Actually, that reminds me - I always called them 'belt bags' back when I wore them. I never liked the term "fanny" because an aunt once told me when I was a child that it was a "bad" word and that stuck with me for years, lol.

Just to keep this discussion about cruises - I will go on record as saying I would wear a belt bag on a cruise if I thought I could get away with it, without ending up in one of those "post your funniest photo of unfashionable cruise passengers" sites. :D

My lanyard is a MUST! My S&S card is always easy to find being attached to it. Kind of like if I didn't have a keychain it would be hard to keep track of my car key.

I also attach my ship pins to it  I could care less what others think and I really don't think that most cruisers sit back and laugh at us Lanyarders and think its stupid.

At least I will not be the one holding up the line to get back on ship or off the ship because my S&S card is in my pocket inside my wallet or in the bottom of my beach bag. Nope mine is right here, I don't have to even think about it, lol :p that comes in handy if you have had too many DOD!

Bottom line is that Lanyards work for me - if that makes me look stupid to you then GOOD :p I really don't care because I'm too busy enjoying my vacation

I got one of these little fabric purses for our last cruise, and it was great. It's pretty, only weighs a few ounces and has a long cord that you can wear across your body, keeping your arms free. I kept my card and a few dollars for tips in it.

I agree! They're about like fanny packs.

I think they are grades above a fanny pack. That doesn't mean that I feel that they are the most attractive thing to wear, but being a female, often I don't have pockets in whatever sundress I'm wearing. And I'm like a few others that am constantly worried that I'll lay my S&S card down somewhere and forget it. Its bad enough worryingabout losing the key to my room, but couple that with the fact that its tied to my CC and whatever it takes to keep it with me.

Pocket. Even my swim trunks have pockets..............:) )

Lot's of women's clothes don't have pockets.

Or they are faux pockets.

I wear a coil lanyard around my neck because it has fallen out of my pocket. Every so often I'll wear it around my wrist. I also attach a small flashlight to it JIC.

You only get 3 free replacement cards. The 4th one will cost you ($5). Voice of Experience.

In port it gets clipped into my bag.

I LOVE my lanyard and wear one every day on my cruise (I also wear one at schools when I teach with the classroom key, whistle and business cards on it) I love the convenience of having my key handy at all times and I know I won't lose it this way. I do also have a fanny pack but I prefer my lanyard over that any time..

I agree that it looks much better than a fanny pack. And I have pretty beaded ones and I it's convenient for me. I like my beaded lanyards.

Same here. I got some nice beaded ones from e-bay for DD(14) and myself and we have had many people comment on how cute they were. I get DS(16) his favorite sports teams lanyards and DH uses his wallet.

I cannot believe that a thread about methods to hold your ship card has ~63 replies. Unbelievable!:D I guess anything is possible around here!

No worse than the bickering back and forth on your how do you afford to cruise thread!

I musta missed that one LOL..I can't wait to go see how that question can cause bickering.....

I love my Coach lanyard! I never cruise without it!

It holds my sail and sign, the card I use to open the safe (yes, some still use a card), and my money for the casino!

NICE :)

I only have a Cruise Critic one.

I should be very embarassed!! :p;)

(I think Vera Bradley makes them..maybe its time to buy a new one LOL!)

I am a hands free geek! Just call me a dorkfish, I don't care. It's about comfort for me and not what others think. I want my hands free (well unless a DOD is in one;).)

I use lanyards, fanny packs, small over the shoulder/chest to the waist purses...whatever my attire requires. Most of my clothes don't have pockets so for the S&S card on ship - lanyard. Fanny pack for the shore excursions and most definately at sporting events (try keeping track of a purse when 40,000 to 76,000 screaming Rockies/Bronco fans are jumping everywhere especially me). Pretty teeny tiny fabric purses that coordinate with my dresses to hold the evening goodies and S&S card on ship.

but don't you think it just looks so stupid hanging around your neck?

OK. Just had to let it out.

lol, yes, I agree! I always keep mine in my pocket or camera bag. I don't mind them on kids though...brought my daughter a princess one for 1 buck the other day for our upcoming cruise.
