******Labadee Cholera****

We will be in Labadee on April 18th on Oasis. What are your suggestions regarding shore and land excursions to avoid contact with local people? Do you advice to get off the ship? What measures do you recommend to nullify risk of contamination?

Labadee is a private area of Hiati that is nowhere near the Cholera outbreak...You do not have to worry about a thing...

Unless you are one of those unusual humans who worry about those who are less fortunate than themselves.

This.

And FWIW, using this subject line is more than just a little misleading.

In all seriousness though, Cholera is very serious, and you must protect yourself. If I were you, in order to be safe, I wouldn't even risk getting on the ship in the first place. Staying home may not seem like a fun vacation, but at least you're guaranteed not to come into contact with any "local people."

OP: Labadee is a very remote, fenced off, private area that is leased by RCI to be their private "island" (technically, it is a peninsula). The only locals that you will be in contact with are those few who are hired and screened by RCI to work in the area. All food and drink are brought off the ship, so you won't be in contact with the local drinking water supply. Therefore, there really is no risk of cholera in Labadee.

We were just there & didn't get sick. They brought bottled water from the ship to put in the dispensers & make fruit punch, etc. They also warned you not to drink the water in the restrooms & there are no water fountains. You will be fine, we had a beautiful beach day! Have fun!
