Anyone stay here? Good suggestions on to eat or to do? We are here for 1 night + 1 day before we cruise next week.

Just stayed here in December. Nice hotel, king rooms are nicer than the rooms with 2 doubles. Across the street is a 7-11 and on the other side the beach is across the street. Downstairs on the beach side is Bubba Gumps and if you walk along the waterfront there are tons of bars and restaurants. You can get on the water taxi for the intercoastal waterway a couple of blocks down from the hotel. It wasn't warm enough for the beach when we were there so we took the water taxi to the shopping area and spent the day wandering around there.

I've been following several threads about Ft. Lauderdale hotels on the Florida Departures board which I have found to be very helpful. We are also trying to decide on a Ft. Lauderdale hotel. You might want to go to:

We stayed there in 2008 and have it booked again for December. Nice if you want a little taste of the beach. if you ask you can get a view of the port. If sailing on Sunday you can watch the Saturday night sail-aways.

 

Plenty of places to eat and a wine/liquor store a block away on Las Olas.

We stayed here and it was just great! SLOWEST elevators in ALL history. BUT, good rooms :) Nice to walk most places too.
