funhavn Posted March 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2005 Hey all:) My family and I are excited about going on this cruise:D We heard about all the problems the passenger had on the cruise that just got back and hope we have no probs at all. Can anyone give us any ideas on some fun in Galveston?
postalgrrl Posted March 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2005 You can always check out Moody Gardens.....I haven't been in a couple of years but it was nice then. www.moodygardens.com. And walking around the Strand is always nice. For food I would check out Shrimp n' Stuff or the Captains Table.
JenX Posted March 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2005 Ditto previous poster on Moody Gardens, if you have the time and $. It is worth both. Very cool place. TX A&M has a sea turtle hatchery you can visit for free. It's really interesting and the turtles are amazing. Google that + Galveston and you should find the address pretty easily. All I remember is it's a couple of streets behind the seawall near the Merman statue. The Strand is a fun place to walk around, and there are several good restruants and things to see. There are a few different piers you can walk out to and pay small $ to fish from. Very likely you'll catch something! Oh, and you can have a cold beer while you do... The Balinese room pier and some of the other touristy but fun gift/souvenir shops are neat to go in. Kids will love it. My son and husband love the flight museum, near Moody Gardens, and it is also small $. Don't bother with Rainforest Cafe unless you have the $$$ to spend and like bad food. The atmosphere is really fun and cool but not worth the $$$ in my opinion. The beaches in Galveston aren't the greatest but you will find lots and lots of seashells if you walk along them. Have a great time!
NoNoNanette Posted March 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2005 Dinner at "SALSA'S" on the Seawall. The food was out of this world! (Mexican joint):) Also, take advantage of EZ CRUISE parking's internet rate. We stayed at the brand new LaQuinta Inn and Suites on Seawall Blvd. Great prices. (There are 2 LaQuinta properties there, both of which is on Seawall...the new one is the "Inn and Suites".
