Question re: Marina Deck Plans

We just received our cruise docs. The passenger decks seem to have several large areas of space (white) with no specifications as to their use. There are some interior cabins, a concierge lounge, elevators, and stairs. Then there are large areas of white space. What is this mystery space?

Most of it is devoted to things that you wont want to think about. Plumbing, wiring, storage, etc. Some of the larger areas are where the crew sleep and recreate.

Every deck plan that I have ever seen has those void spaces on them (and I collect deck plans).

As an example, this is a section of the Plaza Deck on the Celebrity Solstice. The mysterious "white areas" are very similar to those of Marina.

Of course, less deluxe ships have more inside accommodations, so that may be what you thought that you would see.

Or, perhaps you were thinking of blueprints.

Yes, you are correct. My frame of reference is of less deluxe ships and therefore more inside accommodations. We are first time cruisers on Oceania and the Marina, so this is all "new" to us. I must say that from what I have read here in CC, and specifically your posts, we will not be disappointed. Thanks for the information and examples. I'm counting the days and hours until we can board this beautiful ship. :)
