Do you tip when they bring freebies to your room?

I just turned platinum on my last cruise, and started getting a small plate of petit fours and canapes delivered to the room. I also get a bon voyage gift from the casino, along with chocolate covered strawberries. I was only in the room once when they delivered these things, as I did not order them, and I was caught off-guard. Should I tip for this kind of thing?

I have not. I did not request them so I don't see the need to tip. Of course, if I order room service I tip for that...

I've never tipped for that either. I always thought the cabin steward brought it...maybe not.

 

I suppose if I was ever in the cabin when it was delivered, and it was room service, I think I would tip.

No, it's a separate service from the cabin steward.

However it is a service ,so I do tip.

I have never been in the room when anything has been delivered. I also thought it was put there by our room steward. Of course we tip for room service (but rarely order it), but I'm expecting it.

Generally it is in the room when we get back to the cabin. On last cruise it was delivered and did not occur to me to give a tip.
