Jan2007 Posted April 6, 2011 #26 Share Posted April 6, 2011 Great, just when I booked 2 cruises from Florida, Disney decides to sail from right under my nose from Galveston!

MERIDIAN Posted April 7, 2011 #31 Share Posted April 7, 2011 Not wild about New York and the expected itineraries. I agree, NCL already has this Itinerary for not one but TWO ships and the itinerary does stink. Disney is expensive to boot, I'd rather sail two seven day cruises on NCL than one eight day on Disney's older tonnage out of NY. The reason Disney is coming to New York is because the economy is still shaky and skyrocketing airfares are making homeporting a goldmine. I've never been on a Disney cruise and hear it's great, Cunard as well. This should be interesting.
Uri1961 Posted April 7, 2011 #32 Share Posted April 7, 2011 I think people are forgetting that Disney is dedicated to children!! Its about seeing their happy faces, making those wonderful memories!! I live in NY and if I can take my grandson I will!!

I live in NY and if I can take my grandson I will!! I hear the adults are pampered on Disney as well. I would love to give Disney a try but Carnival and NCl's prices out of N.Y. were very attractive. We just got back from Nickelodeon all access cruise on NCL Jewel. Kids got to meet their favorite tv stars.Talk about happy faces.
Lipz Posted April 7, 2011 #34 Share Posted April 7, 2011 Nassau, been there..done that. On trip number three to there this July with the Jewel. Port Canaveral, doesn't sound exciting since I've been researching it for the same July trip on the Jewel. Castaway Cay, will be new...but besides the beach not much to do on a private island I figure. Cruising with Disney....I'm thinking PRICELESS and something to do at least once in a lifetime. I'm a New Yorker and I am excited!!! .... and next July is looking really GOOD!

MERIDIAN Posted April 7, 2011 #37 Share Posted April 7, 2011 You better believe it... tired of the same old Carnival - NCL monopoly!!! Just a little info for you Herb, Carnival and NCL are two separate companies, and fiercely compete against each other. Disney will get it's share of passengers in NY but there are plenty of passengers up here that just don't want to fly anymore. The other cruise lines have been doing well here. I hear you Herb. A breath of fresh air! I'd love to give Disney a whirl. We jump around from one line to the next and are loyal to none. I have not seen the price of Disney out of New york yet so I guess I'll have to wait and see like everyone else. New york is such a lucrative market that I tried to book Carnival Miracle to Bermuda for spring break and it was sold out. Now it's not surprising for a spring break cruise to be sold out, It's the fact that the NY/Bermuda run never started this early-it's usually May! We found room on the Pride out of Baltimore-Bermuda, that's probably booked now too. People are getting tired of flying myself included.

I'll be glad I'm sitting down and will definitely be gasping for air when I see the prices Disney charges ... LOL Definitely won't be NCL prices...

LOL Definitely won't be NCL prices... Disney's not crazy for commanding a higher price and they're not alone, We were looking at Celebrity's new ship out of Bayonne for the december caribbean run and found that third person pays full fare--Yikes. We can afford to bite a little bullet because airfare is not in the picture. I am a little curious as to why NY is always getting the mostly older ships. They should trust us, We won't scratch the paint. LOL
tkportersat Posted April 7, 2011 #42 Share Posted April 7, 2011 Maybe the difference would be equal to the Casino money we normally spend on other lines?? ha. Very well put we were going to Fla next year (celebrating dd college graduation and my big 5-0) for a Disney cruise but now I can stay close to home no airport hassles. I am sure the price will be high but everything Disney does is expensive but worth it. This is the best of both worlds cruising and a day at Disney World. Lipz Posted April 8, 2011 #44 Share Posted April 8, 2011 I hear you Herb. A breath of fresh air! I'd love to give Disney a whirl. We jump around from one line to the next and are loyal to none. I have not seen the price of Disney out of New york yet so I guess I'll have to wait and see like everyone else. So far we've done Carnival and Royal Caribbean with our first trip on NCL coming up this July. I don't have a favorite cruise line, but so far my favorite trip was on Carnival...loved Cozumel. I think I'd take any cruise line versus staying home! People are getting tired of flying myself included. We're cruising out of our home port of NYC for the first time in July and I am so HAPPY. We've flown to FL with our two previous cruises and it wasn't a bad experience but it would be so sweet to just grab a cab to the port. I am sure the price will be high but everything Disney does is expensive but worth it. I know Disney likes to do things big so I am expecting no less for their cruising. However, every man, woman and child has their own taste so some will love, some will like and some will hate. Me.....I'll just be happy to be on vacation no matter what. It's one of those blessing in my life. I am a little curious as to why NY is always getting the mostly older ships. They should trust us, We won't scratch the paint. LOL I don't know to much about the ships per say, but I do know I am over here cracking up! lol
