Nassau beach day

Is there a beach near where we dock that we can go to? We would love to spend a couple hours on the beach and the excursions the ship offers looks like we have to take a boat ride to get to them and we didn't want to be stuck there until the excursion was over. Something we can take a taxi to or walk to would be perfect.

As you leave the ships pier walk to the right past the straw market, past the Colonial Hilton about a five minute walk past the Hilton will be a free public beach. It is warm, clear & no big waves. Not much to look at snorkeling there are some small colorful fish & a bunch of old conch shells. There is nothing in the way of chairs or umbrellas to rent or vendors, just a nice quite beach.
