Changing clothes after dinner?

Recommended Posts

We usually change after dinner.....or after going to the show. We typically spend an hour or so in the casino, and don't want to get our evening clothes all smoky! (that's one major downfall with RCCL....allowing smoking in the casino).

I was just off the Voyage OTS. They did not allow smoking in the casino on formal nights. I thought this was a fleetwide practice, but maybe not.

As for changing clothes, I usually keep on the same casual clothes all evening. I usually change out of my formal clothes -- especially when the Quest is coming up as it did last Friday night. (Some men wore suits to the Quest, but I don't suggest it.)

I always dress for dinner & leave them on all night. I think it makes the evening's experience more special. From my years of cruising, I would say most people do not change into beach clothes after a nice dinner. Some do, but they really stand out in the theater/night clubs. However, there are no clothing police so do what you want.

Some do, some don't.

If we're casual or smart casual, we definitely do not change. I wouldnt go to shows in shorts and tee shirts (unless I was a kid hanging with my friends). If it is formal, it depends on exactly what I wore, DH tends to want (us) to stay dressed, so do I, unless I wore something not so comfy! lol It really depends, but on a whole we stay in whatever clothes we wore to dinner.

As far as changing after dinner goes, I usually do change back into shorts. I always wear golf shorts with a collard shirt at night. I leave the t-shirts and such for the day and the pool of course.

If I cruise in the south like the Bahamas and Carribean, I always changed after dinner. Even my Dad changed back into shorts after dinner was overwith. If I sail Alaska I would stay in slacks because it is cooler at night on those cruises.

Usually I want to change into something a little more comfortable. One formal night on the Oasis, we had a show to go to right after dinner, and I went in my tux. It changes depending on what I'm doing.

It all depends what I'm wearing, how I'm feeling and what I plan on doing that night after dinner. On Casual nights I'll stay in my slacks and nigh shirt but if I just want a relaxing evening after dinner on the formal night I'll go back to my cabin and change into jeans. Its whatever you feel more comfortable doing. There is no set dress code for walking around the ship. I think the only rule is you must be dressed

Since we do second seating, we do our show first then dinner.

Hubby usually likes to slip into his jeans after dinner. I don't usually change except for my shoes. By 10:30 I'm wanting out of my heels so I slip on a pair of sparkly black ballet flats. They still look nice and dressy but much more comfy to dance and walk around the ship in.

It's that last sentence that gets me in trouble every time...;)

Do most people change their dinner clothes into more casual clothes for the evening? I was going to wear whatever I wore to dinner for the evening, but I've seen a few posts where people change after dinner. I can see changing into something more casual after the formal dinner nights, but do people change back into shorts in the evening?

Looks like it's about half and half. I usually changed back out of my dress clothes, but I was quite a bit younger. This year, whatever I have planned after dinner will dictate whether to change or not.

It takes too long to go back to the cabin and get changed. We stick with whatever we wore to dinner. So I make absolutely certain that my formal attire is comfortable and includes comfortable shoes. That way, wearing it all evening is no big deal.

For our upcoming cruise, I've purchased a very formal gown for one of the formal nights. I love it, but it's super long and not very dance friendly. I'll probably change if we want to go dancing because otherwise I might rip my dress. :)

In the past I've changed if I've worn evening outfits that were pretty but not so comfortable. This time I tried to only pack things that look and feel good. Except that for that gorgeous dress!
