Thanks, all for the info. Dave & Elaine, I made a note of your e-mail and I will write to you. We are doing 2 nights in San Juan, then the Galaxy, San Juan-Galveston, Oct. 25, spending 1 night in Galveston, renting a car to go to San Antonio, then driving back to Houston. Isn't this a fun way to go to a wedding? Hope we could arrange to meet. Definitely SHARE a bottle of wine!!!Last night we were out to dinner with another couple and we shared a litre (this is Canada!) of dry white house wine, and let me tell you...it was better than lots of bottles I have had!

As for screw on caps, there's a wine column in our Sunday newspaper and according to the "expert" we should not snub wine in screw cap bottles. If I remember correctly I once read that in the future corks may become a thing of the past. Some problem or other...I can't remember. But they said that the screw cap itself didn't harm the wine.

CaribbeanBound, Your post reminds me of our (wife and I) time spent in Germany doing Wine Fest. There was a many a bottle shared doing these times. Everyone would carry their bottle by any means possible along with their cups. I remember carry more than one bottle at a time, one in each hand and bottle in each hip pocket. Sooner or later you forget about the cup and resort back to you child hood and drink straight from the bottle. What a great time this was. We even had a chance to do several wines tasting but one stands out above all. During this tasting we began to grade the wine by either pointing our thumb upright or downward as to our liking, then giving it a grade of 1 to 10, writing our scores on the napkins and holding them up. We had the old Germany wine steward going crazy!!! At the end of the night we voted that the left over wine we had mixed into one big glass was the best tasting and rated it the best.

NOW THAT SHARING WINE!!

Hi Dave and Elaine! Would just love to share a bottle of wine with y'all too. Maybe between now and then we could meet for dinner on the Riverwalk or something? It would be so nice to actually know someone already, going on the cruise! And yep, we did sign up on the "other" site, and are so enjoying David's newsletters. (We'll be much more active online when school is out; we're retiring, and these last few weeks are so hectic!) I'll email you with our addy!

Loved your Wine Fest story!
