OBC/soda card through Bon Voyage

We cruise is 20 days and I am so excited! Anywho, I want to pre-pay as much as possible before the crusie so our S & S account is as close to $0 when we get off the boat. So, here's my plan: Call BV and pre-pay gratuities, get some Bar Credit Coupons, put some extra money on my S&S for onboard credit. Anything else I should pre-pay for?

My other question is, I know I am going to want the soda card, so should I go ahead and just buy the soda card now through BV, or should I just put some extra money on my S&S card now and buy it once I'm on the boat with the OBC that's going to be on my account? Will it be cheaper to buy it once we're out to sea, to avoid tax? If I call them and buy it now, I'll have to pay tax, right?

Thanks!

Just call the regular Carnival number to pre-pay gratuities, not the BV dept.

The "Special Programs and Promotions department" at 1-800-906-7603 will help you with purchasing Funship dollars to be applied as OBC. Really no need really for bar credit coupons if you are purchasing OBC.

Looks like you've got it all covered. Enjoy!

BTW... Funship dollars purchased for OBC must be done within 2 weeks of sailing as I recall. So you're getting pretty close time-wise.

I wanted to get the bar coupons so we could physically hand the waiters the coupons and allot ourselves a certain number of drinks a day. I refuse to come home with a high S&S bill this cruise. :-)

So can I do all of this OBC/coupon ordering by just callingThe "Special Programs and Promotions department" at 1-800-906-7603?

If you prepay for the soda card/sticker, when do you physically get the sticker? Is it affixed to the card when you first check in? I will buy the soda card for DD, who will want a soda (or two) at lunch when we embark. So, waiting until we get to the cabin or later won't do me much good. Like OP, I would prefer to get known expenditures out of the way, even though I understand that I will need to pay tax if I buy the soda card before we sail away.

Just a tip... delay purchasing your soda card sticker until you're out to sea. If you buy it prior to that the purchase will be taxed...

:)

Could you confirm what the difference is between the soda sticker or the card/tickets.

All I have been able to fine was the 4 soda tickets, and with 2 teen boys going we could be using alot of tickets!!

I would wait till you get on the ship to get fountain card. My sweet husband sent me on a girls cruise in Feb. and had ordered me a fountain card through bon voyage. Well long story short it wasn't in cabin, called guest services and they said go to casino bar, who sent me to the pool bar, who said I needed to ask the maitre d at supper that night. I then walked to guest services and still in a very calm and polite voice told them of my travels and asked them what I do I need to do. They said that to go to the lobby bar (right across from their desk). The bartender there tried to send me to maitre d but I told them I had just spoken to guest services who said for me to come there. Carnival was very nice to me just confused on how do handle fountain cards through bon voyage.

So I highly recommend getting them on the boat.

The soda sticker is for unlimited soda refills. I believe it is $4.50 a day for 17 and under and $6.00 a day for 18 and older. This is for the duration of the cruise so $4.50 x the days of your cruise + tax + gratuities for teenagers. For our 7 day cruise it was $38.76. It does not include soda if they order it from room service, they will be charged individually for those.

The coupons are just per can of coke. The cost of a can is $2.13.

Thank you so much for clarifying this for me. Two more questions- 1.would the unlimited soda refills cover things like shirley temples (which is basically 7up and grenadine)?

2. do you buy the umlimited soda refills onboard?

There is usually a stand set up on the Lido deck where you can get them or I believe you can buy them at the Lido deck bar. They do cover shirley temples.
