Celebration Controversy - Vlad-Gate - LIVE!

Hi cruisers, am sitting in Brower's Corner on Celebration awaiting my transfer to airport for flight home and it's all kicking off!!! :eek:

 

A new cruise director just joined the ship last Wednesday and he is making waves already!! The show team are down here - most of them in tears - because Vlad has been released from his contract this morning and was given one hour to leave the ship! He was escorted by a security officer to say his goodbyes and been taken away!! His replacement is here already! :eek: It all happened just behind us and we heard/saw it all!

They rest of the team have been locked in Kidzone with CD and ACD in a meeting and now the team have all stormed out saying they are all going to walk!! :eek:

 

Can't believe this is all happening as we are about to leave. If anyone is going to coming aboard Celebration today for the next cruise please update me on what happened!!!

 

Have had a good week here on board although weather has been very mixed. We had torrential rain in Alanya and was blowing a gale in Haifa yesterday! Just heard thunder again just now here in Limassol! Will give my full review when I get home!

Ah! He must have done something serious if a security guard is escorting him off the ship.

 

When the rest of the team have had a good rant and rave they will hopefully go back to work. After all they can't win their argument whatever it is and if they don't work would probably be dismissed and never get another job on a ship - blacklisted.

 

There will a contingency plan for such a happening anyway, or there should be!

Gosh! What a state of affairs! I'm intrigued - also very hopeful all will be sorted p.d.q. - we're on next week and of course there are all the passengers just arriving today who will want to have the entertainment in place and everything running smoothly.

 

There must have been quite a big issue for action to be taken so quickly and in such a dramatic way!

 

Who is this new CD? I know the showteam are often a very close-knit and very supportive of one another but they must feel very strongly to threaten to walk. It will be a difficult position for the replacement guy too - it's not his fault and he may find it hard to integrate given the circumstances. They will have to consider their future employment prospects with Thomson though if they were to walk out. Must be serious!

 

As tummysmummy says - please let us know what's going on if anyone has more info.

Oh well he's not likely to pulled in to mediate - he's due a holiday - he works very hard. But he is very experienced and I would have thought in other circumstances (i.e. not just gone home - oh hang on, is this the start of a fairly long break before he gets married?) he would have been the one to get drafted in as he often has a bit of a roving role over the whole fleet.

Vlad is back in the uk and is appartently ok , the replacement yesterday must be temp as one of the ent team has said his replacement flies out in two weeks, looks like the team arn't happy but things went back to normal

celebration has a brand new cd called paul blackwell, just had this confirmed by lee one of the entertainment hosts

Yep the new CD is Paul Blackwell, and ACD is Bram Lorenz. Paul seemed ok, but sure seems to be kicking ass among the team after only a week!

 

Mtt - thanks for the update on Vlad! Was annoying having to leave the ship just as all this was kicking off - I had visions of there being no show for the new passengers on their first night!

 

Do you know why Vlad was released by any chance? Seemed serious when he was being escorted by security!

Thanks for the up-date mtt. :) Pleased to hear the entertainment is still on! It will take them some time to get over the up-set though as these teams work so closely together and seem to be very good friends.
