TimmyKai Posted April 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2011 I noticed a lot of people go to Maho Beach to see the planes but then go to another beach to swim. Just curious why? Is Maho Beach not a good place to swim?
akeasley Posted April 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2011 It's not the best beach for swimming. With all the planes coming in, etc it gets very wavy and not much fun to swim in.
lucy6 Posted April 14, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2011 We had a great time swimming at Maho. We did go to Orient beach, then over to Maho, just because we wanted to see both. But we decided, next time, we may just stay at Maho the whole time. The thing about Maho is that it is not a gradual drop off, so it probably wouldn't be approp with little kids. My kids are 11 and 15, and LOVED it!! The water was crystal clear, and the beach was really clean. The day we were there, the water was very calm. We were just there at the end of March, and had a great time! Per my kids, the highlight of our trip.
Willbcruisin Posted April 14, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2011 We just returned from Maho and it was my 4th time there. We have been when the water is calm but also rough. Last week the undertow was very strong. I did not go in far at all. I am not a strong swimmer. The beach is coming back nice after last seasons hurricane. We were there in December as well but there was not much beach. Now plenty of room for those brave people who like to get blown into the water or ride the fence. I enjoy watching this craziness:p We love to be there and we always have a great time, great food and can still stick our toes in the beautiful water.
