The girl standing towards the back of the picture in between the lady with a pink shirt and the one with a blue shirt. White shirt, black/grey backpack. That is so funny! Did you enjoy the cruise? Awesome pics! Looks like a perfect time :D The bar with the swings in St. Thomas is called Mojo's. Love that place! Great Bushwackers and Painkillers. hermitstyle Posted January 27, 2012 #155 Share Posted January 27, 2012 That is so funny! Did you enjoy the cruise? Any cruise is a good cruise, right? I was with my family, and it was my sister, brother-in-laws and my nieces first cruise, and they had a blast as well. I really enjoy the Glory. Such a beautiful ship
pcrum Posted January 27, 2012 Author #156 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Im there on Sunday! Yay! Cannot wait!:D Enjoy! I'm jealous!! Any cruise is a good cruise, right? I was with my family, and it was my sister, brother-in-laws and my nieces first cruise, and they had a blast as well. I really enjoy the Glory. Such a beautiful ship Yes, the Glory is a great ship. We have been on her twice and loved both cruises!! Sadly, I'm rethinking cruising after the Concordia tragedy. I don't think we will abandon it entirely, but will definitely make some changes. I plan on each of us wearing one of those neck pouches (waterproof) with a small flashlight, our passport and some money...just in case. Also, I was finally comfortable with the kids not being with us all the time on the ship. DD loves the Teen Club and DS is happy in the room ordering room service!! I'm definitely thinking we will not split up as often. I cannot imagine a tragedy of that magnitude happening and not being with your family!! I don't see that having a meeting spot is a great alternative, as the Concordia tragedy showed that your designated meeting place might be tilted towards the sea!! It is such a sad reality of modern day life that we have to plan for all of these contingencies!! Air travel is certainly not fun anymore with all of the TSA regulations (definitely necessary, but a huge inconvenience!)...now we have to think about escape routes for cruises!! Oy vey!!! The meeting spot will work so long as you make it clear that if ANYTHING happens, we meet there. The Concordia didn't start to tilt until much later than the initial announcement of a problem. mermaidofmanhattan Posted January 27, 2012 #158 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Pcrum, thank you so much for sharing your experiences through your wonderful review. I just adored it. We're a family of four, with two boys, 15 and 10. We're theatre folk--my husband and I work on the big Broadway and our kids are both into theatre as well. I was just thinking, how nice it would be to meet a family like that on a cruise. We have in common some similar interests--and good parenting. Love it! Maybe it'll happen sometime. You write really well, mama, and I will look up some of your other reviews. Plus, your kids are darling, you can just tell from looking at them that they are lovely. Thank you, again! I'm going on the Glory for a third time in 43 more days (!!!), but this time I'm bringing my best friend who is a first timer. She's not really scared from what happened on the Concordia, but she is a little more aware of what can happen, and since I know they don't have you bring life jackets the the Muster Drill anymore, I'm going to show her how to use them in case we need to use them. We've also decided to put our passports and other important things in a ziploc bag in the safe, so if we need to quickly grab them, we can get them as we grab our life jackets. I have a flashlight app installed on my iPhone, since I carry it everywhere for the time. Since she is a first timer, I don't think that we need a meeting place, since she will probably hang around with me to get my vast wealth of cruising knowledge, lol, but we will have a place to meet if we get separated and something bad happens. I'm looking forward to sailing her again, she is my favorite ship so far, but I fear my trip on the Breeze this Christmas might push the Glory to second place:o

The Concordia didn't start to tilt until much later than the initial announcement of a problem. Good to know...I'm just afraid in the panic of a bad situation, maybe not being able to get to a designated meeting place. Something like the Concordia tragedy might not happen for another 100 years, but it still sticks in the back of my irrational mind!!:) Pcrum, thank you so much for sharing your experiences through your wonderful review. Thanks so much!! Yes, we love theatre and would love to cruise with like minded people!!! My son was looking at a broadway cruise out of NYC (on NCL, I think) that is going out next summer, but with two kids entering college soon, I don't think now is the time for us! My mom and I actually did a R Family vacation cruise to Alaska with Seth Rudetsky and the cast of "Best in Show" and Andrea McCardle and loved the entertainment! Someday we hope to do a Broadway themed cruise as a family!! Thanks so much for your kind comments. It really means a lot that you enjoyed the review!!!:)
mermaidofmanhattan Posted January 28, 2012 #161 Share Posted January 28, 2012 Yay, I love Seth! He started out playing auditions for shows, and he was very good, too--that's when I first met him. Isn't he hilarious? He's made a great career for himself. What a terrific time you must have had! I hope to do an Alaskan cruise. I probably would be smart to try to book it as an entertainer, but then, for us, at least at this point-- it would be a bus man's holiday! Good luck to your son--I'm sure you'll be coming to NYC one way or another at some point. Thank you again for sharing.
djbmab21 Posted January 28, 2012 #162 Share Posted January 28, 2012 Thank you so much for posting such an indepth review with pics. I really felt like I was there on the boat. It helps to get me through until my cruise in March. lol Also, you don't realize how much easier it is to read the large font until you have to go back to reading the small font and it hurts your eyes. haha :D

This is the link: http://thebroadwaycruise.com/ He seemed like such a nice guy and he had his mom on board with him and was very attentive to her. Alaska is beautiful...we absolutely loved it. A balcony is a must for all that gorgeous scenery! If you are an entertainer, I've heard some of them aboard the HAL ships only work when they do their show, so it would seem like a nice way to earn a living and travel around a bit!! My son is hoping to be on the Great White Way one day. He goes to NYC at least once a year to see the shows with his dad. He is looking forward to the revival of Evita! Next year he auditions for theatre colleges, so we'll see where he ends up! I got my master's at NYU, but have only been back a couple of times since. I'm amazed at how Times Square has cleaned up. It's like Downtown Disney now, whereas in the middle 80s, it was porn shops!! Thank you so much for posting such an indepth review with pics. I really felt like I was there on the boat. I do like the large font!! It won't be long now until your cruise in March! Where are you headed? We are next headed to the western caribbean on HAL Ryndam for my mom's 80th birthday. I will be doing a review. The HAL boards are very quiet...not many reviews to read! It makes me miss Carnival!

Thanks so much for the kind comments. The reviews are fun to write and I hope to pay back some of the information I have learned from these boards!! I need to get started on my HAL review of our recent sailing on the Ryndam. I was going to do a comparison to Carnival...guess who wins? I guess we really are a Carnival family!!
