How do you get OBC?

Apologies if this has been on before - just wondering how you all get OBC. Have done around 13 cruises and have never had this so not sure should we change TA or do we need to do our home-work more.

Normally we pick a cruise, phone TA and they give us a price and we book but from joining forum notice a lot of you seem to have this perk.

Look forward to picking up some tips. Thanks.

The methods that I know of are:

- Offered by a TA as a booking incentive

- Given by Celebrity when a cruise is booked while on a cruise (I do not know if this is still offered)

- Own at least 100 shares of Royal Caribbean stock and request the share holder benefit before the cruise

I book directly with Celebrity and then check OBC pricing from a few TAs that I know and go with the one that gets me the best price. Then I fill out the booking transfer form to Celebrity to transfer my booking to that particular TA.

I'd go back and see if your TA will give you OBC. If not, find a new TA for your next cruise.

Those are the only 3 ways I know of as well. Yesterday I booked a cruise using celebrity passages in which we received $200 OBC from Celebrity and when we transferred the booking to our travel agent we received another $275 OBC.

Ask your TA if they offer any OBC.

After initially calling the TA I normally book w/ for a quote for 3 inside rooms. I called around to about 6 different TA for our upciming cruise. Got almost identical prices for the trip itself. 2 of them however were offering $25 OBC for inside rooms, $50 for outside $100 for balconies and $150 for suites. Well I went back to my TA who I noramlly book w/ and said look you quoted me w/ no OBC and I have booked w/ you before. These other TA's are offering OBC and I havent even booked w/ them before.

All the sudden she was able to get us the cruise for the price she quoted and $100 OBC for each room we booked ;)

We booked directly with Celebrity for 2012 and received $750 OBC - agent kept upping the offer without much input from me...best experience ever!:)

It's usually based upon the cost of the cruise before taxes/port charges. Of course the person paying $3,000pp for an AQ or Suite will get more than one who pays only $1,500pp.

Once a TA gave me $25 OBC and thought she was doing me a favor.

Usually you can at least get your gratuities prepaid.

Yes, thats true but I have had TAs that did not give much of an OBC regardless of price.

For me my TA is the best and is there 24/7:)

Am I allowed to throw a TA's name out there? This company is offering a $405 OBC, plus an additional $150 credit they are giving on behalf of Celebrity. By the way, they also will price match.

NO! Naming TA's is not permitted on the boards.

If you do a google search you will get the names of different internet agencies.

You really need to look no further than the first page that comes up.

Just go to these different sites & look up a specific cruise. When OBC is offered it is well advertised.

We are getting $200, OBC on our Infinity cruise next month. We got a card from Celebrity

saying that we had not sailed with them in awhile & if we booked we would get the OBC, so we did.

We just booked a RCCL Oasis for September.

The Internet agency gave $100. OBC plus prepaid gratuities !

I got another $100. OBC because we did an open booking on the last cruise.

A $200. balcony discount because we are Diamond status on Royal Caribbean.

And a VERY generous discount because we are members of Club Royale. That is the Casino club on RCCL ships.
