Mini Suite vs balcony on Jewel?

I am planning a 2/06 cruise on the jewel for 4 of us (4 and 6 yr old boys). The mini suite is about $400.00 more total. Is the square footage larger and do you think it's worth it? I have never cruised with NCL before but I love the itinerary on this cruise (with Roatan).

For that price...go for the Mini..you will really appreciate the extra room

Oceanview stateroom w/balcony is 166 sq. ft., Mini-suite is 229 sq. ft. We agree with Rich, with 4 in the cabin, and $400. total for the whole trip, in our opinion, you will enjoy the extra space.

We also are tossed between the balcony and mini-suite, though we aren't bringing the girls this cruise. We booked the balcony and are hoping for an upgrade....

I just booked the AF mini suite (2/19/06) "guarantee" hoping for an upgrade too! It would be nice to be upgraded to a real suite:)

no question about it - go with the Mini... not only do you get more space, but you get concierge service, which is a VERY useful perk!

Do you think the concierge will book my dinner reservations for parties of 6 even though their will only be 4 of us in the mini suite? My sis and bil will be in a regular balcony and we want to dine together....

Mini-suites are 231 sq. ft. + 54sq ft for balc; the regualr balcony cabins are 167/38.

If it can be done, the concierge will do it for you. Just make sure you don't hesitate to call them anytime you need anything! They're great!
