flying "large"

Not enough time left to lose a serious amount of weight before our cruise and last time we flew (which was four years ago) I asked the flight attendant for a seatbelt extension since the seatbelt was a few inches too short. :p I fit in the seat just fine, but my weight is in front. I'm thinking of buying a seatbelt extender and just carrying it in my purse if I need it, rather than asking the attendants. Has anyone else done this?
