Customs

When mailed from any foreign country, the boxes are inspected by US Customs and when it's delivered to your house, if it goes beyond the limits, you'll have to pay duty. This is for anything, not just jewelry. I shipped crystal from Waterford and had to pay the duty. Sometimes, if it's a larger store, they will include the duty fees in the cost of the item, and it will be marked as such on the shipping label. Again, this happened when I shipped items from England. They knew the Custom's duty and added it in to the cost of the items, as it was well beyond the $800 limit. When I got the box, it was listed on the label the Custom's duty I paid.

Personally, I would NEVER ship jewelry, unless it's really cheap stuff.
