bionicman97 Posted May 1, 2011 Author #227 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Day 3 - Labadee - Have we been here before? I got up around 7:30 in the morning (on the new time). My left leg was hurting a little to bear weight on it. I always pay attention when this happens because: 1) It doesn't happen often 2) I broke the left femur bone in half in a car accident 14 years ago and had to be in traction and then have a titanium rod inserted (still there) with clamps, pins, etc. Of course, being the stubborn idiot that I can be sometimes, I figure the solution is to go run on the jogging track and it will "work itself out". The ship was stationary at the pier and it wasn't crowded on the track at all. I had a nice view the whole time. I ran about 5.5 miles before I decided it wasn't getting any better. Stubborn for sure. I then went back to the room to get ready to go to Labadee. This is our first cruise here since they built the pier. I can't believe how much it has changed since we were last here. Everything about it seems different. Here's the wife all ready to go Here I am all ready to go At 9:30, we depart the ship And Here we are fixing to get on the island More of Labadee - Coming up shortly. . . bionicman97 Posted May 1, 2011 Author #229 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Day 3 - Labadee - We're on Land! In case anyone wasn't following along, we're at: Either my memory is completely shot, or these walkways are new to us. I like them. For some reason, I've always liked Cococay better. I think maybe I've changed my mind now. The first thing we did was go up this Had a nice view of the ship I like these little areas that had setup to sit at Up next - Are we at Labadee, or did we just arrive at Glamour Shots? - And More. . . bionicman97 Posted May 1, 2011 Author #230 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Day 3 - Labadee - Are we at Labadee or Glamour Shots? As I mentioned earlier, my wife's aunt and uncle were on the cruise with us. He is into photography like me, but also shoots the occasional wedding (he did ours), graduations, etc - so he likes to take pictures of people posing. After a while, I really did think we were at Glamour Shots. It was nice though, because usually we come back from a cruise with 1,000 photos and I'm in like 5 of them Any guesses what we are looking at here? -- that's right, it's water . . . Care to take another guess of what we are looking at? -- that's right, it's water again. . . Whenever possible, I try not to miss a chance to get a picture of myself hanging from something. I don't know why, just seems pretty dramatic if you ask me In this situation, my wife thought a fish "might" attack her. I couldn't find any fish around More Day 3 - Labadee - It's time to eat - and more. . .
bionicman97 Posted May 1, 2011 Author #231 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Day 3 - Let's relax Well, all in all we wondered around for about an hour and a half exploring and taking pictures. Know what were looking for here? The food pavilion of course!! This isolated palm tree looked destined to fall one day, so we did our part to hold it up for a short time. Notice how I don't look so tall next to the tree. We wondered by one of the swimming areas After doing all this, we decided it was time to find a seat. Wanted to make sure we had something with a view and this worked perfectly Here's the token shot of me in the chair Up next - the food & more. . . bionicman97 Posted May 1, 2011 Author #232 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Day 3 - Labadee - Bring on the food (and the Labadoose's) They were serving lunch on the island from 11:30 am to 1:30pm. We went around 11:45. They had a nice variety of BBQ type foods and desserts I just made a small plate. I don't like to eat too much when it's hot. Everything was good, except I didn't care for the taste of the chicken - that might just be me though. After this, a kind gentleman came by. What could he be offering? A yes, a labadoose You know what's better than 1 labadoose? 2 of course! (non alcoholic for the lady of course) Up next - Back to the Ship - The Solarium - Tea time - and more. . . bionicman97 Posted May 1, 2011 Author #233 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Day 3 - Back to the ship Around 2:15, we decided to go back to the ship This was a good time to go back, as it wasn't very crowded Forgot to post this earlier, but for those of you who need it, here's a map of Labadee Once onboard, we thought this would be a good time to go to the solarium, since there were so many people on the island. We had no problem finding a seat Around 3:30 pm, we decided to head to the Windjammer for Tea time Everything I had was good except for that brownie - Do . . Not . . Get . . That . . Brownie! (beyond dry and not sweet - crumbled to pieces) Remember International Ice Cream Wars? Still going strong Up next - Evening time - A Show - Dinner - and Morning Sickness? bionicman97 Posted May 1, 2011 Author #234 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Day 3 - Evening Time After finishing up in the Windjammer, we went up to the pool deck for some R and R Stayed up there for a while, got a nice shot of the sun being all dramatic (or is the cloud the one being dramatic?) After a while, I got this pick of the sunset After this, we went back to the room to clean up. Upon leaving the room, I went by the theater to see who was performing tonight. My wife stayed at the room Then I went up to the Viking Crown area for the Nightly Diamond Event and to do a little photoshop work. Up next - It's Showtime - and More. . . bionicman97 Posted May 1, 2011 Author #235 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Day 3 - Labadee - It's Showtime At 6:50pm, we went to the show. Had no problem finding a seat. The show started out with a cruise director I don't remember the name of the performer, but I think it was in that sign I posted earlier She had some audience participation She had performed in Branson, Missouri for a while Overall, I enjoyed it. It was a good show and she had a good voice. I don't know if it would be everyones thing, but the crowd enjoyed it. Up next Dinner time. . . bionicman97 Posted May 1, 2011 Author #236 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Day 3 - Dinner Time After the show, we headed off for dinner I had the casesar salad. I also tried a small piece of someones crab cake. I think I would get it next time. For dinner, I go the beef stroganoff. Several people at the table got this, but I seemed to be the only one that liked it. It does look (and taste) quite a bit different than any other beef stroganoff I have had. I never had one that was so red (it did have just a hint of a kick, but not spicy by any means) For dessert, I had the lemon pie with a scoop of vanilla and the berrimuso The lemon pie was good. The berrimuso wasn't bad, it just really didn't taste like anything. After dinner, we got another balloon animal Up next - The rest of the evening. . . bionicman97 Posted May 1, 2011 Author #237 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Day 3 - Labadee - After Dinner After dinner, we went back to the room and I saw the moon was out. I didn't have a tripod, but I still gave it an attempt We wondered around the ship for a while Visited the casino briefly We finally packed it in around midnight and went to bed. That's it for Day 3! I can't believe I got through writing a whole day in one setting! If you're still with me. . . Coming Tomorrow - Day 4 - At Sea

proudpatriot07 Posted May 1, 2011 #240 Share Posted May 1, 2011 Yay thanks for my fix :). Labadee looks pretty cool... does Cococay serve drinks in those souvenir cups too? I really like the cups and want one, hopefully I can get one at Cococay too :). We definitely plan to check out the Solarium on port days... I bet that's about the best time to go and it won't be so crowded, it all looks so beautiful from your pics. And I love, love, LOVE the pic of the moon and the clouds. So incredible. How did you get to that to that area in Labadee where they had all that seating and you took those pictures? If you see the picture at the very beginning of the Labadee photos I posted, the one with that stone ramp (it is very close to where you get on the island, easily visible), just go up that ramp and keep following it around, you will come to the seating. If you go past the seating, it eventually takes you to dragons breath area. Yay thanks for my fix :). Labadee looks pretty cool... does Cococay serve drinks in those souvenir cups too? On the map below, if you see where the dock meets land, it is those yellow paths just to the left of it. Looks like you don't have long now until your cruise. Rare Familygoboston Posted May 1, 2011 #246 Share Posted May 1, 2011 I think we have been stalking Sim...comletely unintentionally! We had him on Granduer once, and Navigator twice...and now we have booked Jewel (quite a ways off, maybe he will have moved on...especially once he sees the passenger manifest:eek:) These are the only RCCI cruises we have taken in this century...so what are the chances!?? If he is on Oasis in December I really do have to figure out what is going on!! Anyway, we do love him, super funny and energetic...hope you did too.
