I tried a search and this, and am not very good on doing it.

Any thoughts on this hotel?4221 N Ocean Blvd is the address. It's our first cruise and I'm at a loss for where to stay. This board is an overload!:D

TIA!!!

Well after a bit of searching I finally figured out what that is. It's just an old motel to me, wouldn't be my choice, but to each his own. It's not real close to Port Everglades if that's what you're looking for.

The following hotels are on SE 17th Street, very close to Port Everglades, as well as shopping and dining and are very popular among those on the boards...

Renaissance Hotel (very nice, right across from the port entrance)... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLBR

Embassy Suites... http://www.embassysuites.com/en/es/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=FLLSOES

Marina Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage.mi?marshaCode=FLLFL

Or if you want a beachfront hotel try these...

Marriott Harbor Beach, on the widest part of Ft. Lauderdale Beach... http://www.marriottharborbeach.com/

The brand new Pelican Beach Resort at the north end of Ft. Lauderdale Beach... http://www.pelicanbeach.com/

A motel to avoid in Ft. Lauderdale is the Waterfront Inn Beach Resort. We got two rooms there 11/03 for an RCCL pre-cruise night.

The place looks decent from the web site, but that is the front building. There are 2-3 back buildings. No view. Dirty carpet in one. Naked light socket in another. A safe you could pick up and walk out with. The AC broke in the middle of the night. It was a short taxi ride to the dock, but that didn't make up for the other problems.

Our daughter called it a "shoes-on" motel. It wasn't a good way to start a vacation.

The water taxi stops by the Marina Marriott, but the Renaissance is only a block west of there, so it wouldn't be a big deal to me to walk that far. Personally *I* would stay at the Renaissance - While the view from the tower at the Marina Marriott is better, the Renaissance is much newer and IMO a nicer hotel.
