rcha Posted May 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2011 Does anyone have any experience of these cabins? Just about to book 8086 and wondered if anyone had any comments. I have not sailed on RCI before and was wondering if the JS were worth the upgrade from a balcony cabin. I know that they are bigger but are there any other benefits on the Splendour. Thanks for any help.
kyriecat Posted May 4, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2011 To me, the JS is worth having but price may be a factor. I had cabin 8084 on Legend (same layout as Splendour) a few years ago. It was just hubby & I but it was a 13-night cruise. We enjoyed having the extra space in the cabin and on the balcony. The aft JS balconies are bigger than the port/starboard side JS cabins. I don't believe the cabin itself is bigger than other JS's. One advantage is the view: you can see not only directly behind but also to both sides. That was particularly nice when we sailed up the Grand Canal in Venice. The cabin is under the spa so noise from the pool deck and lounge chairs isn't a problem. We had some problems with our neighbors inviting all their friends to party on their balcony until the wee hours, but that isn't normally a problem and a nightly phone call to security quieted them when we were ready for bed. Unfortunately a JS is not really considered a suite by RC so you don't get all the perks associated with the suites. You do get twice the sailing days if you are a C&A member.
