Missing passenger Liberty?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know anything about the 2 early morning requests for a passenger to contact guest services on the Liberty on Friday 13th May?

These calls were put out at approximately 6.30 and 7am.

Why do people automatically assume that someone would not be okay, a passenger call out could be for something simple. These ships are large and at that time of the morning a person might have gone for breakfast, when another person in their party needed them, or a message from home might have been received from the ship. Either way it is a private matter, between those involved. On any sailing you will regularly get passenger call outs made over the PA system, it does not mean someone is missing. It just means that another person wants to get in touch, and the reason for that is considered enough for the ship to assist in finding them.

In all fairness to the above two posters, they do not make those kind of announcements that EARLY in the morning, early enough to wake the majority of the guests without good cause. I highly doubt not meeting for breakfast is important enough to warrant it.

Being at the front of the ship l had been woken every morning by the extremely noisy anchors..l was looking forward to a lay in on our sea day when the announcement was made  and woke me up....l felt rather guilty because it sounded like someone maybe missing ..................it turned out fine though, an announcement was made later in the day to say all was well but no details.:D

In our experience the announcements for missing passengers overrides the regular PA system and the announcement in made in the staterooms. On our cruise last year, there were two missing passengers and one announcment was made at 3:15 AM (teenager) and the other was made later in the morning (adult).

The announcement for the teen started out as a missing passenger report. The announcement for the adult began as a "please report to guest services". Eventually they did report that the adult was missing. The Captain made the announcement and explained that it was protocol to turn the ship around...which he did. Sometime around 10 AM, the "missing passenger" called to say she was ok.

Meanwhile, the cabin attendants had been instructed to perform a cabin by cabin search.

So, I would expect that the person was reported missing but turned up rather quickly or you would have known about it.
