Transportation from Metairie, La to Port ??

Is there any transportation other than taxi from Metairie? We'll be at the Sleep Inn w/two cars and 6 folks. We will have to drive both cars down to the port for dropoff. It would probably be impossible to get all our luggage in one trunk !!! Not to mention 6 folks because you can't get 4 in the back. Anyway we'll be taking the cars back to the hotel. Does anyone know if there's a trolley in walking distance or is a taxi the only way. Can anyone comment on the rates, whether per person or the ride itself rates?
