danem Posted March 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2005 Probably a silly question, but what is a snorkel vest? I've seen this in several posts, but I'm not familiar with it. We'll be on our first caribbean cruise. Most of our snorkel experience was in Hawaii.
ineedacruise Posted March 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2005 I snorkel vest is much like a life vest but you can blow it up and then let the air out when you are done. Much easier to pack.
Lsimon Posted March 18, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 18, 2005 Also - most ship sponsored excursions that include snorkeling require you to wear a vest (which they provide), although you don't have to blow it up if you don't want to and it doesn't add boyancy unless you do. I don't like wearing them as I find I float just fine in salt water and vest makes it hard to dive down - which I do a little while snorkeling. But some people like the security a vest offers. Could be that I might be carrying just enough body fat to have my own built in vest:rolleyes:
