AnnYM Posted May 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2011 Does anyone know if there are safety regulations around zip lining? We'll be stopping in Roatan on our Legend cruise in August and I've noticed from zip lining photographs posted on several operators sites that some participants wear safety helmets while others do not. Photos on the Bodden website seems to consistently show no helmets worn. Does Bodden offer helmets if we were to sign up with them? Thanks in advance! Colorado Kat Posted May 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2011 Safety regulations in the USA and Caribbean countries vary widely. Poorer countries in the Caribbean seldom have the laibility laws we are used to in the USA. My suggestion would be to contact the Boddens and ask if helmets are available. cruisene Posted June 7, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2011 I felt perfectly safe with them. Having never zip lined before had no idea what to expect. I was surprised they actually kept you hooked on an extra safety line while on the platform!:D
ssca Posted June 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2011 We wore helmets at South Shore through Island Marketing. Not sure I would do it without!
AnnYM Posted June 8, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted June 8, 2011 Thanks everyone for your input. I did contact Victor and he confirmed that they do use safety helmets. The photographs posted on his site, he explained, were much older. I'm assuming they may have been taken prior to regulation changes requiring helmets. I'll probably book with them since it will be our first ziplining experience and my husband has an issue with heights, LoL.
jamoka Posted June 11, 2011 #6 Share Posted June 11, 2011 We wore helmets at south shore. Thankfully they were not gross or old or smelly. I feared the worst. I would want two lines to hook on too, and a helmet!
