Split for 1 day with 3 small children - any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hi, we're doing a 12 night Med Venice cruise in July, and will be in Split for one day. However, we are travelling with 3 small kids (17 mnths, 6yrs & 7yrs), so we need to be a bit selective about what we see and do, and we also wish to restrict the sightseeing to only about 5 hours, so as not to tire the kids out too much.

We'd prefer not to do any tours, would rather wander about by ourselves, and based on the bit of research I've done, was thinking of attempting the following:

  • walk around the Riva Promenade, maybe check out a few markets
  • stroll through Diocletian Palace
  • take a walk up Marjan Hill to check out the views
  • relax a bit on Bacvice Beach

Does all of this seem feasible within roughly 5 hours? I'm struggling to get a good handle on how long each "sight" on my list would take, and also how much walking time to allow from sight to sight - are they all within walking distance of each other, or do we sometimes need to get a taxi/bus?

Any feedback or alternative suggestions would much appreciated :)
