has anyone been on a d.i.y. pleasure cruise from stavanger down the lysefjord to pulpits rock? if we do this will we need credit card or krone?

Why not do the ship tour? Not as long as the one Jim references, but I doubt the scenery gets any better than what we enjoyed.....fabulous waterfalls, goats meeting our boat, incredible Pulpit Rock from below, idyllic farms and cottages along the truly beautiful shore and a stop for waffles, sour cream and strawberry jam and coffee at the neatest waterfront restaurant you can imagine.....this was a special trip to see an enduring memory of Norway. I'd do it again in a flash!

 

Be sure you have enough time for that longer cruise. Ours was about 3 to 3 1/2 hours and was perfect.

November 10,2007...the “Affair” continued...did it ever!

 

October 16,2008...the “Affair” goes transatlantic as we sail in tandem with the grand QE2 on her final transatlantic voyage...what a thrill!

 

December 9, 2008....the “Affair” resumes again....Life is good!

 

July 30, 2009....transatlantic again...some “Affairs” just get better

 

August 7, 2009....the “Affair” goes on...this time “home” to Norway

 

Feb. 7, 2010....the “Affair” takes a sunny detour when Penny meets a Princess

 

Aug 14, 2010....the “Affair” returns to Norway, all the way to the top!

 

2011...North to Alaska!! A wilderness tour and cruise....sorry Cunard.

Hi Penny, whilst the time and waffles are certainly a consideration, I believe that there is a great difference in cost between the tour offered by Cunard and the independent one, not that cost is everything but it is quite important.
