Atlantis Aquadventure

Hi everyone,

I need advice on planning my day at atlantis water park. I am bringing my whole family, 6 adults, and 1 child (2yo) as part of NCL Jewel excursion package. Please help me answer the following:

1) The ticket says the bus depart at 9, so hopefully we will get there by 9:30? Is it warm enough at that time?

2) My son, the 2yo, is in pull-up phase, can he be in the kiddie pools? He will probably just waddle around.

3) Are there changing rooms/showers at the water park? Or do I have to go in my swim suits?

4) Are there lounge chairs around the pool areas? which pool area is best for relaxing?

5) What can I do to organize my family better for this day out. We won't have cell phone service, but plan to get walkie talkie. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

If it's a warm day in general, then it will be warm enough in the morning. Waterpark opens at 10am. Pools open at 9am

2) My son, the 2yo, is in pull-up phase, can he be in the kiddie pools? He will probably just waddle around.

I think they are allowed.. but not sure.. I would think so since it's chlorinated.

3) Are there changing rooms/showers at the water park? Or do I have to go in my swim suits?

The transit lounge is available with showers, changing rooms and lockers, but there is always a long line for us. I would wear my bathing suit and change to go back to the ship if there's time.

4) Are there lounge chairs around the pool areas? which pool area is best for relaxing?

Can't help you there.. I don't find any of them relaxing - but there are lounge chairs throughout.. best spots are taken early in the morning .. just like the cruiseships.

5) What can I do to organize my family better for this day out. We won't have cell phone service, but plan to get walkie talkie. Any advice is appreciated.

Don't know how you can say relaxing and walking talkies in the same post. most people cringe when they hear them skwaack..

Thanks!

Atlantis is a no-cash environment.. so bring your credit card.. even the lockers take credit cards only.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the reply Scubagirl.

I did not know that Atlantis is a no-cash zone. So I will bring my credit card.

How much are the lockers? If I get there by 10am, would I be able to get one?

Also, how long is the wait for the rides? Is there is fastpass system like in Disney, or just good ol' wait-in-line deal? Most of our parties will probably do the lazy 1 mile river, a few will do the ride through the shark tank.

went last year on NCL Sky. I remember what ever time they told you to meet at the outside, it was a good 20-30 minute wait before we walked to the taxi. I also remember the locker area to be a VERY long line when we got there because everyone is doing the same thing. I read this before I went but realized the line was not worth the wait. we actually did not get a locker. I wore my bathing suit under my clothes in the AM. We left our stuff in our bag and left some stuff in my husbands bathing suit pocket. we went with very little cash and 1 credit card because you can not use cash by the pool. You have to get a hotel card that is used as a debt/ gift card. you put money on it and then use their hotel card to buy food (you have to do this inside. When you get off the taxi a guide will meet you and explain everything adn give you map. they will point out where to get the hotel card and where you can change. their are bathrooms in and outside around the hotel. They have a kid water play ground. I do not think he will be old enough to play on the kid water slide area just because the other kids will be too big and rough around him. I do think they had a water splash area. Not sure about the water diaper though. When we got there the pool had just opened so the chairs were all available. Just grabbed two but never sat in them. we were on the slides the whole time. I dont know how you will use walkie talkies if you are on teh slides. they do not allow anything in your hands, all jewlery has to be removed..watches too. I took snacks that I packed pre-packaged snacks from home. granola bars.

I am a little confused now.

I understand that the water park doesn't take cash. Can I use my Mastercard credit card from the U.S.? Or do I have to put cash on the hotel card and use that? I am more comfortable with using my own credit card. But if I have to put cash on a hotel card, how much can I expect to spend? How expensive are the meals? Reason being I rather not bring more cash than I need to. Especially if we might not get lockers and we will get wet.

You can use your credit card. those with cash would buy a card from the souvenier shop to use on the grounds.

You can use the credit card in the restaurants, but if you want to eat at the food set up by the pool. (It is just a simple table set up for quick pool eaters... burger, can of soda bag of chips) they do not take cash or credit card. You have to use the hotel debit card. I think it costs $10.00 a burger. When you get there the tour guide explains it to you.

Then this is something very new. My son/grandson were there at Eastertime and used his credit card at shark bits on the property. I remember discussing it with him because he forgot there was a 3% transaction fee on the card he used.

Anyone else been told they couldn't use a credit card???

I called atlantis bahamas and the CSR told me that when you get to the waterpark, you give them your credit card info, and they will register that to the wristband or hotel card that they give to you. The wristband/card is how you will pay for food, etc. He also said that it is better to come with a credit card. I also asked if there is a surcharge, repeatedly. He said no.

So I guess at the larger restaurants, credit cards are accepted. But in the waterpark, and especially at the small eateries, it is the hotel card/wristband.

Any idea if I can buy passes for my children to play in the aquadventure once I get to the Atlantis, how much it would cost (my kids are 12, 12 and 15) or if I need to purchase it through my cruise. Can I also buy passes to enter the aquadventure area that would not include slide passes for me and my mother?

In order to enter the grounds (gardens, pools, lagoons etc), you will need a full day pass . Adults are $120 kids $80. This pass INCLUDES the water park. There is no pass that allows access to the grounds and pools without the park.

There is a $60 beach pass, but it does not include the pools or lagoons nor access the the aquapark.

BTW.. children are not allowed in the park without parental supervision, so at least one adult will need to purchase a day pass.

You should be able to purchase passes same day at the Atlantis check in desk at the Royal Towers.

Scubagirrl, What is the regulated taxi cost from Atlantis resort to the airport? I am searching the net for a valid chart but the only one I found was from 2005. Also are weekend days good days to scuba dive? Thanks in advance

Scubagirl help please! What time does the park close? We won't be arriving until noon on the Carnival Fascination on Aug. 4th so we probably won't make it to the park until about 2p. I'm thinking. It that enough time to get our monies worth? I've asked this question on several different posts but haven't been able to find a response yet. We are thinking of going the Comfort Inn route, do you think this is the best way to go financially? Is there a cheaper way? There will be 2 adults and 2 teenaged boys. Thanks for any reponse from anyone!:D

Okay, got the answer about the time the park closes in Aug., it's 7p. so we have enough time to do it. We will probably do the check-in/check-out thing at the Comfort Inn so that's done. Now the question I have is this....we will be with two teenaged boys 16 & 17. Would it be okay to leave them on their own while the DH and I do a couple of the slides, the beach, and maybe walk over to the digs and the casino. Would it be safe or would it be a very bad idea?

Atlantis to the airport.

$32 for 2 pll. $3 for ea. add'l person. Oversize or add'l luggage, $.75/$1 ea.

Diving is good any day, weekends are more crowded, of course.

It depends on your teens.. only you know how they act. i would let them go for an hour or so at a time and have a "check in". Don't forget.. there are 8-10,000 people on the property.. no way of knowing if there's trouble or not.

Mousy, if you are looking into booking a room at Comfort Suites remember that they charge extra for a 3rd & 4th person and have housekeeping fees per person. Make sure you add up all fees and taxes to the room rate before booking to see if it is cheaper. For us it was only slightly cheaper using AAA rate so it wasn't worth the hassle of going there to check in/out. We bought thru Majestic Tours $120 pp same as Atlantis.

If you are not staying at Atlantis then you will need to use a credit card for any purchases (locker, food, drink) at the waterpark. They do not load any money or cc info onto your bracelet as someone else stated.

Your teens will be fine roaming the park by themselves. It's not really that big of a park, just a confusing layout.

Last time we were there hey also charge anyone over 16 as an adult so the rate will change dramatically if you have not booked with 4 adults...
