Bar Credit

I noticed you are able to buy Bar Credit before your cruise for $23. A few questions for anybody that has done this before.

Is there a way to print the credits so you have them before boarding the ship? If there isn't do you receive them right when you board the ship?

Are you able to buy 1 bar credit for $23 then buy one weekly leading up to the cruise? I am just trying to space out buying my drinks up to the cruise.

I used them in November and thought they were great. You cannot print them and You get them the 1st night at dinner. People on here have said if you go to the dining room when they open and say you may not be at dinner, you can get them then. I'm going to try that for my cruise in October. No sense in waiting to buy your first DOD. You can buy as many as you want and from what I'm told, any unused ones can be used on your next cruise. Enjoy!

Instead of buying the bar credits, I put $$$ into my shipboard account via "Funship Dollars". I put a total of $600 in my account and prepaid my tips. I just returned from my 7 day to Eastern Caribbean. I Just charged my S&S card for drinks or whatever and received a check for $28 and some change when I left, so no bill afterward!! Loved it.

BTW, I also won $700 in the casino!! Loved that too!!

I know mostly people use the bar credits for DOD but lets say I get a beer which is less that 5.75...will they credit my sail and sign card or will I be out a couple bucks?

I drink Bud Lite and on the ships a Bud Lite 16 oz tin is $5.75 so technically you will save the 15% gratuity they usually add to all drinks. The 15% is included in the bar credits. Only if you want a drink that is more then $5.75 they will charge your S&S card the difference in price and the 15% on that difference only. Anything under $5.75 you would be out that amount but there aren't many drinks that are under $5.75...

If you prepay your tips and use the funship dollars for your OBC do you still have to give a credit or debit card? Also if you put the funship dollars on your account do they still refund you the difference at the end?

The funship dollars are used as an On Board Credit and as good as cash. You don't need to give them your credit or debit card unless they find you running out of OBC. In November I called to put $$ on my S&S before I sailed and I received a check for what I didn't spend the night before we got home.

I call the bon voyage department every two weeeks and apply on board credit to my account. Its great and helps when you are on a budget. So far I have a total of 8 bar credits and will be adding probably 2 more before my cruise in August. What ever I don't use now, will definetly be used for the next cruise in January.:p:p
