luvtravel38 Posted June 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2011 I am not a good swimmer but have been able to enjoy snorkeling as long as I don't have to swim long distance or fight currents. I have a really dumb question. When you don't have fins on its easy to stand back up but when your wearing fins do most people tread water and take them off. Because then how do you swim holding on to them. Plus if they fit snug it takes some work to get off. I know this might seem common sense to some but I always have a hard time trying to get out of the water and back on the beach. LOL
bltpyro Posted June 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2011 I don't really get your question. Why would you tread water and take off your fins and swim with them? When you are getting out and it is shallow enough to sit, take your fins off. Same with getting in, put them on when it is shallow.
BWDscotty Posted June 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2011 If you are snorkeling from a boat, you grab the ladder with one hand, cross one leg over the other, and remove the fin with the other hand. Reverse hands, repeat, then walk up the ladder, carrying the fins. If you are snorkeling from the beach or shore, you swim into an area shallow enough to stand (chest deep works best) then remove the fins and walk out of the water. Hope this helps. redlef Posted June 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 27, 2011 If you can't swim good, I wouldn't take the fins off until you were able to stand in the water. You can also walk in or out of the water with the fins on - but walk backwards. Just turn your head to watch where you're going.
