Tour Bus Question

My sister and I will be doing a full transit on the Coral Princess in February 2012. We have talked our 83 year old mother into coming with us. She has a bad back and I want to know about the buses. Are they tour buses or rehabed school bus type vehicles.

We are looking at the shorter (4-5 hour) tours for her comfort. She has very limited mobility so will take wheel chair where we can.

The ports that you call on if you are travelling from LAX-FLL, most of the buses I have seen used are either full sized (approx 40 passnegers) or the smaller 20-22 passenger buses that may have a fold down jump seat in the aisle, both air conditioned. I have seen the other school bus type used, often times for beach tours or for a shuttle. Just guessing here, but I believe if you are on a primarily sightseeing tour, you would have one of the more comfortable 40 or 22 pax buses that may suit your mother better.

Best advice is talk to the Shore Ex people on board and be very frank and honest with them, see what they recommend and follow their advice. Roads are often bumpy. Sometimes tours are in vans as well as buses. The Shore Ex people can email tour operators with specific needs and see if they can be met. In some places maybe a cab or hiring a limo is your best choice. Really depends a lot on your mother's specific situation. Regards, Richard

Thank you both for your response. Mother can walk, just not far and for too long a time. Sitting on "school bus" type seats can be very hard on her lower back. She has had surgery with a fusion and has arthritis really bad.

We want her to have fun after we begged her to join us and want her comfortable. We are looking at the possible 5-hour tour that includes Sarchi.

Again, thank you so much.:)
