shellgoodman Posted June 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2011 My kids have an inside cabin next to us and want to watch DVD movies (besides the ones on the TV) at night. Some cruise lines we have been able to hook up the portable DVD to the TV so they can watch and some there is no ability. Last year, they had to watch on a laptop because we couldn't hook up on the Legend. We will have a laptop and an iPad but they'd rather have it on the TV. What about the Freedom? What cables do we need?

*Mach* Posted June 13, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 13, 2011 The only issue you might run into is how to change inputs... The remote does not have that function but you might be able to do it via the buttons on the left side of the TV... :)

We sailed on the Freedom 2 years ago and the tv has the hook up, but you are not able to change the tv out of tv mode. The remotes do not have the AUX option. There were no buttons on the side or rear of the tv to change the input. We even tried googling the tv model instruction manual prior to leaving port, and the tv's they have on the ship are like hospital models. They are not meant to be changed out of tv mode. We had brought an xbox for the kids and it did not work for us. Best thing to do is buy a small flat screen lcd tv for $50 and use that for any gaming or dvd watching. DaDivaMom Posted June 13, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 13, 2011 Just got off the Freedom yesterday and you can not change the input settings or go below channel 11 to get to an AUX channel. Our boys tried everything to hook up the XBox, even called engineering and were told they did that specifically so that people did not hook up extra electronics. They've been able to every other cruise but not this time. I would say get a small portable DVD player with screen or use your laptop.
