What's the water like in Galveston in early February?

Probably temp somewhere between 83 (record Feb. high) and 8 (record Feb low). Average high: 64. Average Low: 52.

 

so bottom line is that, like anywhere, expect anything. I do remember when living there as a child that it snowed once on Feb. 22 (sister's birthday).

 

It most likely won't be Caribbean warm, and you pretty much can expect on a cruise that the day after sailaway and the day before you return will be the same as Galveston is. You're in the Gulf, not the Caribbean.

 

That said, it is usually better than whatever is at home!

The water? You probably won't want to get in the water in February. The weather can be very pleasant, but if a cold front comes blowing through you will want a warm coat. Fog closes the harbor once in a while in the winter time.

Even us that live have not a clue. This is Texas. It could be in the 90's or in the 30's. Best bet is to check wheathe channel for the upcoming weeks forcast a couple a days prior to sail date.

Soooo true. And even checking a couple of days out might be too soon. We always cruise in February, and have had a bit of everything weather-wise... our winter weather is SO variable, even within the same day! But we have always had very consistent weather once we get out to sea and to the ports -- warm but not too warm, just perfect. :)

The weather is crazy all winter long, but in February you definitely won't be getting in the water without a wetsuit! The water will be pretty chilly!
