Alaska's Inside Passage

Is going north or south on the Inside Passage better and which side of the ship is better?

I've read from these boards, that if you are doing Southbound, get a port cabin. Northbound, Starboard cabin.

An inside passage trip goes roundtrip from Vancouver or Seattle, so the starboard side gets the better view the first few days and the port side tha last few days.

The northbound and southbound ships also go through the insie passage, but only one way.

That's what I think is considered the "Inside Passage" cruise. The lines have terms for the one-ways but you'll have to check their websites for their terminology. It seems the RT's always seem to go through the passage northwardly and then cruise off the coast going back to the original port.
