tef43 Posted June 18, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2011 formal dinnerNo worries, as "Formal Night" as we once knew and loved it no longer exists. It's now an abomination called "Cruise Elegant" and results in a much more relaxed wardrobe. Don't sweat it.

pjtulsa Posted June 18, 2011 #8 Share Posted June 18, 2011 He would be fine in anything from a polo & khakis to a tux.... Dont stress it and certainly dont buy a suit just for the cruise...
MMastell Posted June 18, 2011 #9 Share Posted June 18, 2011 No problem. They'll probably be some of the best dressed. I got off of Carnival Liberty last week and it was probably the most "relaxed" dress code I've see in my thirtysomething cruises. I did not see anyone in tank tops and shorts but there were VERY FEW tuxedos and very few suits. Shirts and long pants were the most common. Take care, Mike
JordanZ Posted June 18, 2011 #10 Share Posted June 18, 2011 Yeah, i was 13 and i just wore a shirt & tie & slacks. I always liked dressing up for formal night, but wont bring suits until i will need to actually have them for work.
Kryssa Posted June 18, 2011 #11 Share Posted June 18, 2011 My husband is planning to show up in a button down shirt and khakis (no tie). My sister and I are wearing knee length dresses. Never sailed Carnival before, but we are not expecting any issues.

megmno Posted June 18, 2011 #20 Share Posted June 18, 2011 The minimum requirements for men on Elegant Night seems to be long pants and a shirt with a collar, meaning even a polo/golf type shirt would be allowed. There are diverse opinions on CC about whether this is dressy enough, but that's what Carnival requires as a minimum.

bunchesofun Posted June 20, 2011 #25 Share Posted June 20, 2011 Traveling last May the first elegant night dh and ds wore dress slacks with a white shirt and tie. Second one they wore dress pants and a polo shirt and they were NOT the most casually dressed people there.
