Shiprobbo Posted June 21, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2011 Thied, Pacific Sun was never leaving at 4.00. Sydney Ports had her due to sail at 6.00pm. Given the high winds here in Sydney last night I am not surprised that she was delayed, manouvering room from Barangaroo is very tight. Would suggest that delays were also passenager related given that most domestic flights were disrupted yesterday - perhaps P&O were trying to make sure that as many people as possible made their cruise. Shiprobbo Posted June 21, 2011 #7 Share Posted June 21, 2011 Thied, No argument, 1600 is 4.00pm. However that is from the cruise schedule which is published months or years in advance, like the brochure. Try looking at the daily movements, this shows the actual movement times for the ships based on pilot and tug bookings. Pacific Sun was showing 6.00pm. BTW the arrival times shown on the Sydney Ports site are pilot and not alongside - thus there is a lag of up to 90 minutes.

dougo in oz Posted July 1, 2011 #11 Share Posted July 1, 2011 I was on that ship and the reason given by the captain (David Box) for our delay was that the portside engine was experiencing technical difficulties. This was announced during the afternoon, around 2pm I think, and a couple of hours later the captain announced that he had received good news from the engineers and we would be sailing later that night. We finally left around 10.10pm and the following day we made our first port on time. We did not end up going to Lifou and we went to the Isle of Pines instead - win - win really :D
