HAWKCRUISER Posted June 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 27, 2011 A group of 22 will be going on a private tour with Nativeways. It says we will be in GC from 8am - 3pm ship time. They ask that we check in by 9:15 ship time. Will this be a problem?
oracer Posted June 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2011 All of the times that you listed (8am tender) is actually 7am in Grand Caymens. That is because the ship stays on the Eastern Timezone at which is leaves out of (if it leaves out of Florida) and Grand Caymen is in the Central Timezone. So you should be 8:30 after the tender and ride in, which will mean it will be only 7:30 on land, so you should have plenty of time. Someone told me this, so just need someone to verify that this is true. Just make sure that you don't wait till 3 to leave were ever you take the tour, because then it is actually 4 on the boat. drew sailbum Posted June 29, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Uh...In this case don't even think about what time it is on the island. You are in GC from 8am to 3pm ship time. Your tour check-in is by 9:15am ship time. That's 1 hour 15 minutes to get the tender and make it to the check in location. Should be enough time. * FWIW, Cayman is on Eastern Time but does not observe Daylight Savings Time. Some times during the year (winter) our clocks are the same as Miami. Other times they are the same as Chicago (summer).
