rickdeni Posted July 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2011 I have searched this board but cannot find any information on this. What are the guidelines for tipping in France. We are taking a river cruise with our first night on land in Monaco and ending with 2 nights in Paris. The guidelines for tipping on the river cruise are explained in our tour documents. We will be eating and touring on our own in Monaco but in Paris the company has scheduled a tour. What is the recommended tip for waiters/waitresses, tour guides, hotel maids, bartenders and cab drivers. We are from the US and we are used to heavy tipping because of poor salaries. Locals leave the change to the next euro.
AngloinProvence Posted July 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2011 Service is usually officially included on restaurant and bar bills, but it's good form to leave a small tip -- as the previous poster suggested, rounding it up to the next Euro or two.... maybe a bit more if the service was outstandingly good.
