Jaylie Posted July 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2011 We are thinking of the Ruby Princess to the Eastern Caribb., next April but are hoping for a large ship similar to the Disney Dream. My DH gets motion sickness, but on the Dream, didn't seem bothered by it. We have never been on another cruise line. Thanks.
TiCKed Posted July 6, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2011 We are thinking of the Ruby Princess to the Eastern Caribb., next April but are hoping for a large ship similar to the Disney Dream. My DH gets motion sickness, but on the Dream, didn't seem bothered by it. We have never been on another cruise line. Thanks. Every ship probably "rides" a little different.....but here are the hard and fast facts for both ships: Disney Dream: Crew Members = 1,458 Entered Service = 2011, 2012 Gross Tons = 128,000 Length = 1,115 feet Number of Cabins = 1,250 Passenger Capacity = 2,500 (4,000 max) Width = 125 feet Ruby Princess: Crew Members = 1,225 Entered Service = 2008 Gross Tons = 113,000 Length = 951 feet Number of Cabins = 1540 Passenger Capacity = 3,080 Width = 118 feet Source: http://www.fodors.com/cruises/ships/ So, Ruby is somewhat smaller in physical size. Does that mean it has more ship motion? I'm guessing, no. It's still a pretty big boat! The actual weather and sea conditions are probably more important than any minor difference in size here.
