Guanacaste

What type of things do you want to do?

What do you mean by private tours?

Will you have a car and able to drive yourself around?

I spend a lot of time in Guanacaste with most of my time around Lake Arenal (It's too hot & sticky for me in the low lands.). I always drive myself around so I'm not much help with tour providers but I do know many of the interesting places to visit both gringo touristy and Tico.

Guanacaste is a big province. Depends on where you are. If in the Arenal area, I have found Desafio to be a top notch excursion company. SkyTrek also has some interesting offerings of sky tram and zip lines. Safety is the key so always go with a reputable provider. There are some "low cost" providers that are not as attentive to safety or whose equipment is not up to date.
