CgyTravelJunkies Posted March 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2005 Why do you want to exchange so much? Now adays, it is much safer and practical to use your ATM card. There are ATM's positioned at every major port or city, and you will be getting the exchange rate for that day, and save on paying fees for exchanging the funds. We went to our bank and upgraded to a full service package for the month we were gone, so that it also covered 100% of the fees incurred for using the ATM's worldwide. I have been told by every travel magazine, other posts and even my own bank, that this is the best way to handle Euros. Purchase a few hundred in smaller bills for when you first get there and needed for tips etc, but other than that, save the hassle and go high tech! That is why the ATM is so helpful! Marie-Claude Posted March 26, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 26, 2005 If you need Euros for gambling, bring your US$ and change them at the casino on board. They don't charge any commission to change your $, and give you the daily rate. It's the best place to change money! They'll take cash or traveller's check. 2cruiseagain Posted April 2, 2005 #8 Share Posted April 2, 2005 Last year on a Costa Med cruise, I exchanged money in the casino and the lady gave me 1 Euro for 1 Dollar. At the time it should have been about .70 Euro to 1 USD. She obviously wasn't very experienced in this area. I was so excited, I went out and lost it at the tables:( Funny, I could never find her again when I went to change money...
