BayouGirlUSA Posted July 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2011 When does the casino on the Spirit open on the day of embarkation? Will the casino open when it gets into the Gulf? Or will it open when going down the Mississippi River? Our friends that will be with us on this cruise rarely get to gamble and I know they will be looking forward to a little casino action. If the casino isn't open until the ship gets into the gulf, I will have to break the news to them that they will have to wait a good 8 hours before that will happen or even the next day! radzer0 Posted July 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 18, 2011 I dont remember exact time but it was after 8 im 99% sure. I think its once it gets out of federal waters. Could be state though. Not that much of a diffrence once you get going time wise tho.

BayouGirlUSA Posted July 19, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted July 19, 2011 Will it take 8 hours to get into federal waters? I have heard the ship will enter the gulf sometimes around midnight or after! So if we leave at 4:00 p.m. that's approximately 8 hours to the gulf. The river is extremely deceiving when you look at it on a map...you would never think it would take that long to get to the gulf! Usually riverboat casinos that are on the coast have to go 3 miles into the gulf before they can open their casinos. I just didn't know if this held true for cruise lines as well.
