Greek taxi strike

Recommended Posts

Just read in the sunday paper that the taxis have gone on strike in Pireus, Corfu and Crete. Also these same ports are blockading cruise ships. Has anyone been affected by this?

Talk about biting the hand that feeds them! Given the financial issues in Greece, you'd think they'd recognise the importance and cash cow that cruise ships represent! Unforeseen circumstances like weather, accidents etc affecting your cruise you have to accept, but they are clearly going all out to affect tourism which strikes me as very ill-conceived! I do hope no-one ends up missing the ship as a consequence.

There was a similar scare in Naples when we were there a couple of weeks ago - a flash strike of the trains - fortunately between 11.00 and 2.00 which allowed passengers to get back ok - but it could have been a different story!
